Unlike Any Other

I hold it deep within me. This is home and I pray that someday I will return .

An hour of solitude on the trails and then I came upon this.

The oft ignored road
led me to a place where I could rest a bit

Now only to hold my breath
as I strained for some awareness
of this effort made so long ago

the ephemeral dreams of ghosts
and the faint echoes of children's laughter
were not meant to be shared.

Nine hours in the saddle. And now I am complete.
